2013 was a whirlwind. To celebrate the winding down of 2013 and the coming of a new year, I thought I would share some of my favourite posts of the year, as well as 12 of my favourite {this moment} photos. If you’ve read them already, enjoy the trip down memory lane. If not, pour yourself a cup of tea and read about this tumultuous, exciting, and emotional year.
January was a hectic month. I slid into the year by paying homage to my old blog, Random Thoughts After Two Glasses of Wine.

In February my life fell apart. You can tell by the fact that I only had 3 postings. However, my favourite moment was… this picture below. Aren’t affectionate siblings the cutest?
February Moment |
In March I was ready to speak about my tribulations; being shot at and the post traumatic stress disorder that I had suffered from as a result of that incident.
March Moment |
In April I began to return to my creative groove. I made my own suitcase gift wrap station, created fun activities for my girls, and returned to a “long-lost” hobby of painting. My favourite posting from the month was my collection of 12 great gift ideas for guys.
April Moment |
May brought some intense moments as we went through allergy tests and food challenges with my oldest daughter.
May Moment |
In June I wrote about the best exercise motivation ever! Come see how I got off of my butt and got active by reading this post HERE.
June Moment |
In July I gave an emotional update on my trauma. I was overwhelmed and touched by the kindness and love that my blogging family showed to me. However, my favourite posting was 10 Ways To Find Peace.
July Moment |
August was an exciting time for me as I prepared for my daughter’s grade one homeschooling year. My favourite post was the one which I shared my homeschool planner and free printables.
August Moment |
September started with the good news that my husband would be returning to the workforce and that I would be able to stay home with my girls. This month I dove into my soul and wrote about what it means to have a quiet and gentle spirit.
September Moment |
In October I became very reflective on how I was teaching my daughter and chose to switch teaching directives. My favourite post of the month was about our Paul Klee Inspired Curriculum.
October Moment |
November ushered in an emotional time as my grandmother’s health took a turn for the worse. Fortunately she has stabilized and we are cherishing every moment we get with her. Visit this post to read about my grandma.
November Moment |
December is still unfolding but my favourite posting thus far is when I created my Cash For The Cold project. The act of being thankful and giving is filling my heart and has already impacted my family greatly. Here’s where you can read more about Cash for the Cold.

So that’s it… 2013 in 12 postings. 2013 was rough but I grew a lot in the process. I like to think that the rough patches in life help us enjoy the good moments all the more. Needless to say, I look forward to a happier, healthier, and brighter new year.
Thank you Sanz! Merry Christmas to you too!

I feel like I’ve gotten to know you so much more through your archives! It’s hard to believe your life ever fell apart because you have come so far in the recovery. You have a beautiful family and it’s so wonderful and fun to see what’s happened over the past year. The good, the bad, the ugly. All of it! Thanks for this post Jennifer!
Jennifer, it was a joy to go back and revisit your posts — even the hard ones — because it’s clear how God is working in and through you. About that “quiet and gentle spirit”? That’s you, my friend. That’s you.
Your family is adorable. Thank you for sharing the photographs.
What a great way to go back & look through these great memories/posts!
It was an experience in itself to create this posting. I had a lot of reflective moments during the process. Thank you for your kind words Robin. My heart’s desire is to have God work through me… and to have that quiet and gentle spirit.

Thanks Jess. It was a very reflective posting. I enjoyed writing it very much.
Thanks Z! I can’t wait to read your recap of the year.
xoxo
You know what’s funny? I had almost forgot about what happened to you earlier this year because you have come so far in your recovery. I’m so so happy for you! Things are looking bright, and you are ending your year with happiness and reflection.
And I can’t not comment without mentioning the bacon obsession. We too are a bacon obsessed family (I despised bacon until I had my daughter, now I can’t get enough)! :)
Merry Christmas my dear!
xoxo
