I was skeptical about downloading another Homeschool Planner as I’ve tried some in the last and found they weren’t worth my time and money and was disappointed to spend money on them. But when Jennifer asked for people to review her planner I thought, why not? What could it hurt?
Honestly, the moment I downloaded the planner I had this feeling about it - that it was different from all the other planners. Two of my favourite pages are the Curriculum Planner and Curriculum Assessment pages since we are working through some curriculum logistics with my oldest. This way we are able to keep track of what we have used and how we liked it.
I also like the Financial Records page as I often make purchases without adding all the costs together and realize later that we spent way more than we should have on homeschool curriculum!
I feel like Jennifer thought of everything including password tracking and planning for extra-curricular like library outings and field trips.
Plus, she gives us options for daily, weekly, and yearly planning, allowing us to choose what option works best for us.
For those who have to record a set amount of days for school there is also an attendance record, crossing off the days as you go. We don’t have to submit that record but I like the idea of keeping track of what days we do school as we tend to take week-long breaks every so often.
Overall, I am in love with this planner and do not plan to use any other after this.
Although this may be the digital age, I still find using a physical planner much better as you can access it anywhere and there's something satisfying about crossing something off your to-do list.
I've gone through many a planner in my time, and this one has some unique features I haven't seen elsewhere, such as:
-The Natural Learning page (My favourite!)
-The star rating for the Reading Log
-Including character building in the Quarterly Planner
-Providing planning pages for multiple students on one page in different formats
-Physical activity trackers for both students and parents
-Curriculum Assessment
As we start to plan for our summer and autumn sessions, I'm going to have the children brainstorm with me about what they would like to do and how their days should look. I haven't been great about planning our own unit studies, but I will feel more confident with the framework that Jennifer provides.
With the new updated version of this planner, we will also be able to evaluate this year's curriculum so we're all on the same page and can concentrate on classes that are beneficial to the children and avoid ones that they absolutely do not enjoy. With places for both parent and child evaluations, this will be fun for the children, and informative for me.
The Natural Learning page takes into account of all the 'non-school' fun home educated children do that is enriching, such as reading newspapers, learning life skills, and even watching videos and movies!
We all look forward to being more organised and having a solid plan in place, and the children will feel more in control by having their ideas and opinions taken into consideration when they're down on paper.
Here's to an organised and successful year ahead!
I know I'm oldschool but I still like a planner I can print and this one gives me an amazing selection of pages so I can customize my planning binder. There just didn't seem to be anything missing, there was even a chart to keep track of my own water intake on the parent planning page, nice bonus. EJ liked the reading log with stars he can colour for each time goal and the daily routine page so he could keep track of what happens next. We're beginning plans for next year now and I bet you can guess which planner we're using!
This planner is so much more than it seems at first glance. I started by just printing a few pages I thought I would use. Then a few more. My 16 year old is building her “master life plan” in a half size binder and if you set the pages up in Acrobat to print 2 per page the fit perfectly in her binder!
I really love this planner! There are so many page options and styles (without being overwhelming). I love that I can just choose the pages I want to use and print them out, easy peasy! I love that the parent planner page includes a reminder to get in my daily water requirements and gives me spaces for a menu, exercise and chores!
This planner provides MORE VALUE than the average homeschool planner. You can print what you need when you need it. It helped me to think more extensively about what we wanted to do and what we did in our homeschool. Love it!!
This planner totally saved me this year. I love my online planner but my kids, no way! I grabbed this planner and showed them the pages. They picked what style they wanted to use and we printed them out. Love it!!
