Maybe it’s just me, but I am slightly disgusted at the prospect of drying my hands on a kitchen tea towel that’s also used to dry dishes. I like having a specific towel for drying hands (terry towel) and a specific towel for drying dishes (tea towel).
A few years ago, my parents returned from a trip to France with a gorgeous little hanging towel. I use this towel exclusively for hand drying in the kitchen. However, when that little towel is being laundered, I am completely lost without it. So, I decided to make one of my own! I promise, this is a quick and easy project. Check it out!

HANGING KITCHEN HAND TOWEL
SUPPLIES
– 1 hand towel
– double fold, extra large, bias tape
– thread
– embroidery floss (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
Choose a hand towel (it can even be one from your linen closet) and a matching or complimentary bias tape.
Find and mark the centre of the towel. To do this easily, fold the towel horizontally, then vertically.
Sew along all edges of a 7 inch piece of bias tape. Make sure to hem the raw edges of the bias tape. If you use a machine, this will take 5 minutes… max!
Sew the bias tape onto the centre point of the towel. Both ends of the bias tape should touch, forming a complete loop.
If you wish, you can embellish the hand towel with your own embroidered stitching. I chose to stitch some simple flowers.
Hang it in your kitchen.
Admire. Use. Repeat.
Easy, right!? This is such a quick and simple project!
So easy and cute! My Grandma used to have separate towels and this reminded me so much of her.
Thanks!
I like that it’s easy to make! I’m not a crafty person, but I think I can do that :)
YES! I totally agree! I too am totally grossed out by using a dish wiping rag to dry my hands…I’d rather use a million paper towels, but I always end up getting the roll wet and I hate that too. Thanks for sharing this! I don’t have a sewing machine (added that to my never ending list of craft/diy wants) but when I get it you bet this will be one of the first things I make!!
Hugs,
Gabby
Great tutorial and such a practical idea! Would love it if you would link this up to Give Me The Goods Monday: 1 Party, 5 Blogs! http://www.rainonatinroof.com/2013/04/give-me-goods-link-party-6.html

Ha! It grosses me out too but I can never get my husband to abide by my “rag rules”. You know, the purple microfiber ones are for cleaning, the fuzzy mitt is for detailed dusting, the floursack towels are for drying hands, and the cut up tshirts are for gross stuff. What? What is so difficult? *blink blink*
Hee! Hee!
So cute and easy! I have one that my mom made me but the top part involves making a button hole in fabric. This would be so much easier!
