When we adopted our dog, Maverick, he immediately became a vital member of our family. We wanted to provide the best home for him and naturally that also meant providing him the best food.

I remember spending hours researching dog foods on the internet. We wanted something very healthy as we had recently heard reports about pets getting Cancer. As with humans, diet is critical to well being. We were already cautious about our own diets, it seemed only natural to be selective about the food our dog would be eating. As we researched the components needed to make a healthy dog food we discovered a few things:
- Real meat should always be the first ingredient.
- There should be no artificial flavours or colours.
- There should be no preservatives.
- Antioxidants are important.
All of our research lead us to Wellness Pet Food which revealed that their products have:
- Live Active Probiotics – Added after the cooking process to promote a healthy intestinal tract and overall digestive health at guaranteed levels
- Omega 3 & 6 Mix – Offering guaranteed levels of essential fatty acids for cellular function and healthy skin
- Essential Vitamins & Minerals – Designed for cellular health, immunity and disease resistance
- Fruit & Veggie Antioxidants – A proactive step in improving your pet’s nutrition
- Excellent Nutritional Standards – Every batch of dry food is tested throughout the entire manufacturing process, from its basic ingredients to the finished products
I recently found out that Wellness has a “Check Your Bag” page on their website. You can compare Wellness to 16 other leading brands of dog food and see how they measure up. In all regards, Wellness passes with flying colours! Plus many of their pet food recipes are made with GMO-Free ingredients! How many other pet food brands can make the same claim! So I encourage you to #checkyourbag!

We selected Wellness as the brand of food for our dog and we have been so impressed!
Our dog Maverick has had some dietary changes in his lifetime. A couple years after we adopted him, he put on a substantial amount of weight. Wellness has a wonderful Healthy Weight Deboned Chicken and Peas recipe dog food. However, he has been enjoying the Complete Health Lamb and Barley recipe dog food for a number of years now.
Here’s a short clip about this fabulous pet food:

My pet's food is important to me! I just read how to #checkyourbag on @DeliberateMom #pets #petcare Click To Tweet
We used to buy the cheaper food for our pets until the vet told us how important good nutrition was for them. Since they are part of our family, we made the change and feed better quality food now that the vet recommended. I want them to stay healthy and happy for as long as possible!
Yes, its good to provide healthy food.
I do not have pets, but I am forwarding your post to those who do.

YIKES. I’m a little scared to know what I’ve been feeding to my dogs. I have made the mistake of not checking ingredients and going by the marketing terms printed on the front of the bag before. My oldest dog is 14 and we have her eating special food because she’s had so many teeth removed and cant chew very well, but my 8 year old beagle might need something better too. Guess it’s time to check! BTW- love the name Maverick.
Know what’s funny, but I buy this for my cat but for my dog we usually use Blue Buffalo. I never thought about getting this one for my dog since he loves the food he eats right now and they say it’s pretty good too. He’s almost 2 years old so it’s not to late to change his food. I’m sure Gizmo would love it.
