We hear it often… start your day with a complete breakfast. In addition, recent research has told us to make sure our breakfast is high in protein. While I completely agree with these statements, I believe that there’s another essential component to the start of our day… Jesus.

Not too long ago, I was in a dark place.

I couldn’t feel God, I couldn’t hear Him and I floundered in desperation, not knowing what to do with myself and my life.

However, I had a revelation… I was ending my day with God rather than beginning it with Him.

I then began to think about what I would feel like if my husband barely acknowledged me all day but then at night, before he goes to sleep he would finally give me some attention.

Moreover, I pondered what it would feel like if the attention he gave me only consisted of complaints about the day or requests to make things better for him. I imagine that would be a frustrating relationship.

Now, don’t get me wrong… I know our God will meet us at any time of day under any circumstances but how much more blessed we would be if we started our day off right… with Him?

Here are four tips to help you start your day right… with a complete focus on God!

Check out these four powerful tips for how to start your day with God. #faith #Christianity #Bible Click To Tweet

Prayer

Open your day with prayer and thanksgiving. Celebrate this new day with God and ask Him to bless it.

Scripture

Read a few verses of scripture and think about how you can apply that scripture to your day. Perhaps there’s one word or verse that you would like to meditate on.

Journal

Take some time to write about the discoveries you’ve made. Journal about what you’re thankful for and document your learnings from the day’s Bible reading.

The Spiritual Journal for the Christian Woman is a wonderful tool to do this type of journaling.

Song

Whether you sing in the shower or during your morning commute… sing a joyful song to the Lord. He loves song and praise… shower Him with praise.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!

Psalm 100:1-2 (ESV)

I urge you to start your day off right… with God as your focus. He is good and will bless you when you put Him first.
