I recently had the opportunity to watch a pre-release screening of King’s Faith and I was very pleased with the film.
SYNOPSIS
King’s Faith is an engaging drama about a teenager, Brendan King (Crawford Wilson) who leaves his gang-life and seeks a new beginning after committing his life to Christ. He immediately impacts the lives of his foster family, his peers at school and his community. However, despite his efforts, his past comes back to haunt him.
THEMES IN THE MOVIE
The film covers a range of teen issues but also delves into the struggles that most Christians encounter in their spiritual journey:
- Having the faith to believe even when the odds are against you.
- Leaning on God and asking Him for help.
- Drawing closer to God rather than blaming Him for life’s struggles.
- Standing firm in faith despite being surrounded by unbelievers.
These themes are skillfully woven throughout the movie, so it doesn’t feel too “preachy” or “heavy-handed”.
REVIEW
King’s Faith is a great movie for teens, but anyone would benefit from its message. It was a pleasure to watch, as the cinematography and acting were excellent. A few moments may seem improbable to viewers but at the same time, with Christ, anything is possible.
