As a former early childhood educator with over 20 years of experience, I can sincerely say I know the value of play. When children play, they learn about themselves, others, and explore what they are capable of. While engaged in play, children may test out roles, and often use play to make sense of the world in which they live.

Little People Review

Disclosure: I am part of the Fisher-Price Little People® Blogger Campaign with Mom Central Canada and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.

Children need time to play, time to explore, and time to imagine. Thus, having the opportunity to review the newest line of Fisher Price Little People® was an exciting opportunity for me and my girls.

I, myself, have fond memories of playing with Fisher Price Little People®. I recall that when I held those Little People in my hands, I knew that I could imagine any adventure I wanted.

FISHER PRICE LITTLE PEOPLE CHARACTERISTICS

As I saw these little characters, I fell in love with how different they are from one another. Tessa, Eddie, Mia, Koby, and Sofie each have their own characteristics. For example:

  • Tessa likes animals (especially cats), dancing, and twirling.
  • Eddie is energetic. He likes sports and dogs.
  • Mia is quiet and likes collecting things.
  • Koby is the comedian of the group and he loves dinosaurs.
  • Sofie is full of curiosity and is a daydreamer.

I really wanted my girls to “meet” these new characters, so I presented them with a few simple props which included; a stack of wood blocks and a small box. Within minutes of seeing them, my girls (5-years-old and 2-years-old) were submerged in a world of their own.

PLAYING WITH THE FISHER PRICE LITTLE PEOPLE

My eldest daughter built a bridge for the Little People® to walk on.

My youngest approached playing with these new characters in a different way. She piled them into the box and pretended they were riding in a “train”.

Eventually their play synchronized and my toddler was transporting the Little People® from the kitchen to her sister’s bridge in the living room.

As I watched them play, I saw glimpses of the Little People® characteristics in my own children. I observed a blend of Sofie’s daydreaming and curiosity, Koby’s silliness, and Eddie’s energy in both of my girls.

I can envision many varied play episodes with these new Little People®. Cities can be built out of blocks for them to live in and explore. They can have adventures through the garden and excursions by boat in the bathtub.
