Are you looking for a gorgeous Thanksgiving banner for your home? Perhaps you’re wanting some frugal but beautiful fall decor?
I don’t know about you, but my Pinterest feed has been full of beautiful autumn goodness.
Since Thanksgiving weekend is almost two weeks away, I’ve been slowly converting my home into a rustic autumn oasis. Earlier this week, I showed you my Autumn Subway Art (Free Printable) and today I want to share a little tutorial on how you can quickly whip up a gorgeous Thanksgiving banner.

Here’s what you need:
- Cardstock paper (8 1/2″ x 11″) – at least 6 sheets
- Ribbon, yarn, or raffia (about 8-12 feet depending on how far apart you want to space the letters)
- Scissors
- A craft knife
- A printer
- The digital template (click download button)
Some basic instructions:
Download the banner. There are 6 sheets in all.
Print them out on the card stock of your choice. I chose a light tan colour for the letters and an off-white for the leaf.
Cut out every letter with scissors. I left about a 1/4″ trim around each to make it look extra fancy. No need to be particular here… I just eye-balled it.
After you trim each letter, use a craft knife to cut a 1/2″ slit on each side of the letter. Repeat for every letter and leaf used in the banner.
Thread your string, yarn, or raffia through each letter.
Hang and admire!
I love the way the banner turned out. It was a simple project and it took less than one hour from start to finish.
If you like it, I invite you to pin it!
If you make one of your own, make sure to share the results with me!
Happy crafting my friends!
Psst – don’t forget to snag your download!

A gorgeous set of letters and leaves to print out and assemble your own Thanksgiving banner.
Absolutely beautiful, Jennifer and will have to keep this banner in mind for Thanksgiving here next month, now. Hoping you are having a wonderful week so far, too xoxo :)
Thanks Janine! I’m delighted you like it.
So cute! I just love this!
Thanks Caroline! I’m so pleased with the way it turned out!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this! I’m saving the banner and doing this for my dining room :) Great idea with using rafia too. I use those stripped craft strings to hang banners up and it always seems so flimsy, so this helps a lot. Thanks for sharing, Jennifer!
I’m delighted you like this Maria! I would love to see a picture when you’re done.
Yes, the banner ribbon is key. I had a spool of this thick raffia in the house and I think it made the final product look fabulous.
I was trying to figure out why we were talking about Thanksgiving in September and then I remembered the Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving before the Americans do. While this looks so easy I’m sure that I will totally mess this up. :)
Yes, our Thanksgiving is WAY earlier than yours. I can hardly believe it’s two weeks away! Seriously, where does the time go?!
I’ve seen your creations and kids’ crafts before… I think you’re being too hard on yourself. These are easy peasy to do.
Oh I love this! So simple and super cute for Thanksgiving. I always forget that your Thanksgiving is much earlier than ours in the US. :)
Yes, our Thanksgiving is way earlier! (Hence all my fall “madness”).
I’m delighted you like my banner. I can’t write lately but the crafts keep my mind numb and my hands busy.
Wow, thank you for this – pinned and shared on Facebook! Are you thinking about taking up (another) career in decor design?
You are a creative cornucopia, Jennifer.
Thanks for the printable and have a wonderful holiday!
Aww, thanks so much for sharing Sarah.
I’m just into the crafts lately – since my emotions are raw, I’m struggling with writing. However, crafts keep my mind numb and my hands busy.
If you make a banner of your own I would love to see it. <3
Hi Jennifer, you are in a crafty mood at the moment! Your banner looks lovely and could the idea could easily be used for a Christmas themed one too!
You must certainly have a steady hand as they don’t look like they’ve been cut out with scissors.
xx
Thanks Debbie! I’m delighted with the way it turned out. It was easy to cut since I was just following the line about .25″ away.
I panicked for a moment, because I forgot that you have Thanksgiving before us! Last Thanksgiving had a snowstorm! Eep!
Anyway, the banner is gorgeous. I’m still wondering if we’re going to host this year and I’ll be making one.
Yes, out Thanksgiving is way before yours!
I had fun making the banner! It’s super easy to whip up and REALLY looks great in the space.
What a lovely and simple idea. We visited the US at Thanksgiving and it was lovely to see the homes decorated. It is a special time for you all. Thanks for sharing and linking up with us at #AnythingGoes.
I love Thanksgiving. It’s one of my favourite holidays (partly because I love fall so much).
Thanks for visiting and hosting Sue!
This looks beautiful! It may very well end up hanging in my window. Thanks for the printable.
You’re so very welcome! I had fun making it and I’m delighted to share.
This is so very cute! I think I need one hanging on my wall right now!
Thanks for sharing this cute craft with all of us!
Yes! Make one! They’re super easy to whip up and even though I think I took good pictures, it’s not nearly as nice as when you see it in person.
This is gorgeous! I love the ribbon-style banners. Thanks for the template.
I love the look of ribbon banners too (especially raffia).
I took your design a step further! Would live to show you, but not sure how to pay a pic to this. ..
:)
