What an amazing weekend! Even though it was a flurry of activity, it was awesome.
It started with a dress rehearsal for my oldest daughter’s first-ever Christmas concert. Then there was some thrift store shopping (yippee for finding fancy dress shoes for my two-year-old). We also found a set of miniature wood goblets (I think they’re supposed to be egg cups) and a set of classic Wizard of Oz books.
We don’t usually do this well when thrift store shopping but it was quite the score!
My oldest daughter performed in the church Christmas concert for all three services (one Saturday night and two more Sunday morning).
I enjoyed the prep of rehearsing with her, helping her select an outfit to wear, and curling her hair.
I got misty-eyed as my little girl got up on stage. As a parent who homeschools, this was a dream come true to have the opportunity to see my child in a Christmas concert! I don’t have any pictures to share of her up on stage as all the pictures I have of her are with other children (and I wish to respect their privacy/identities).
I was certain my little girl was going to be intimidated by the crowds of people watching but she was quite the opposite. It fact she wove her way through the group of children and made her way up to the microphone to belt out the lyrics to the song they were singing! It was an amazing moment.
We enjoyed watching one of our favourite Christmas shows this weekend… A Charlie Brown Christmas. My girls got some really good laughs from Snoopy. Even though I’ve seen these features year after year, I enjoy watching my children watch them. It gives the experience a whole new life.
We also started our countdowns to Christmas and celebrated our first day of advent by lighting a candle on our advent wreath.
Moreover, I started a Christmas themed Bible study that I obtained for FREE from www.margaretfeinberg.com. If you want to know more about advent, Busted Halo made a short video entitled: Advent in 2 Minutes. Check it out here:
So that was my weekend. How was yours?
You guys had an eventful weekend! I love those Wizard of Oz books! What a find! And I bet she just looked adorable up there singing and performing. What an experience for you guys. I would probably have gotten misty eyed too mama :)
Have a great week!

Aw! How fun for you to see your daughter perform. I imagine that is a very fun part of being a parent. And uh, what is with all your amazing thrift scores? Those wooden goblets are magnificent and the vintage books are dreamy!
I love checking out thrift stores. Great finds! Props to your daughter for her stage presence!
I LOVE thirfting too! (But I hate shopping.) You got some great finds! I bet your daughter’s performance was absolutely delightful!
Hi Jennifer! How I loved those days of seeing the Christmas shows…my daughter was in a play once too. It really ushers in the season, doesn’t it?
My Advent Wreath is on the dining room table, and that is such a long tradition in my family. I love the light, and the peace it gives.
My husband is the thrift store lover in our family, but he is slowly making a convert out of me!
Have a blessed Tuesday my friend :)

Sounds like a wonderful weekend, Jennifer! Can’t wait to hear what you think of the Devotional!
