Today was the first day of the farmer’s market which operates near my home. The market is open from May to October and it hosts a variety of local farmers’ and crafters’ products.
We started our excursion to the market by putting on our walking shoes. The market is only a couple blocks away, it’s a nice walk and it helps build the anticipation of the market atmosphere.
Once there, we perused all the tables and selected our goodies. We let our daughter select the produce. We ended up with a bag of mini cucumbers, some cherry tomatoes and a purple pepper. Yes, it’s not a typo… indeed we bought a purple pepper. My daughter just loves eating peppers, so the purple one was a must-have purchase.
I let my daughter pay for our produce and she charmed vendors with her shy facade (which usually does not last past a few minutes, as she’s actually quite a social creature). We watched some animals at the petting zoo and listened to a man playing the accordion.
It was a successful trip and we look forward to many other Sunday excursions to the farmer’s market. Our favourite season is finally here.
yum a purple pepper. Can’t say I’ve ever seen one before. I can’t wait for ours to really start. I’m on a health kick so fresh veggies are a must!
What a fun way to teach your daughter veggies and money!

We were there too on the weekend and had a ton of fun! Joc was facinated by the lady playing the violin?!?
Our entire meal tonight will be from items we purchased at the farmer’s market; I’m looking forward to it!
I love the farmers markets too, I often find myself with lots of mini veggies going home. I go to the market until I get my first crop on home grown mini veggies! PS LOVE the purple pepper!
