Do you have loads of paintings and artwork which has been mass-produced by your children?
Here’s a simple and easy art activity for children. I especially like that this activity utilizes scrap pieces of paper.

To prepare for this activity, cut different colours of paper into small squares. Scrap pieces of construction paper or wrapping paper can be used. You can also use colouring sheets and miscellaneous drawings.
My daughter produces oodles of paintings, so she chose a few paintings for us to cut up for this project. I used my paper cutter in order to accomplish this task quickly.
HOW TO
Your child can use glue to affix the squares onto a larger piece of paper.
In addition, you may also use sticky shelving paper if you don’t have glue available.
Older children may enjoy planning out the design they will create. Younger children may simply enjoy the process of filling the paper with the multi-coloured squares.
I find that using black, grey, or brown paper as a background looks best.
My daughter really enjoyed this project. I hope that your children will enjoy it too.
I like this I’ve been cleaning out my art studio and have lots of paint pictutes that could be cut up like this. Very cool.
I’ll be posting later today I’ll probably link this post in my blog for my Monday links.
@Luisa I’m glad you like this idea Luisa! It’s a great way to reuse :)
I adore this idea! I recently saw someone do something similar at a preschool, where the teacher cut up paintings for kids and created the picture herself (using yellow for the sun and green painting scraps for the grass, for example) but I really like that you have your daughter the freedom to creatively place each bit where she wanted. We can glimpse into the hearts and souls of our little ones by watching them create, don’t you think? :)
What a great idea! Bunny sometimes mass produces paintings ;) How fun would this be! Thanks so much for sharing it with us at Eco-Kids Tuesday! Hope to see you there again today!
This reminds me of Eric Carle books – are you familiar with them?
