After a few weeks of homeschooling, I thought I would take the opportunity to share what our homeschooling schedule looks like. We of course want our “school” time to be enjoyable. Flexibility is crucial but we also want some predictability for my daughter’s sake (and mine).
Here is what I’m incorporating into her days:
Monday

Art – Art appreciation and art journal
Language Arts – Language arts lesson and reading
Math – Jump Math workbook
Social Studies / Practical life applications – Mondays we explore practical life applications such as cooking, sewing, building, gardening, community exploration, banking, budgeting, and shopping.
Physical Education – KungFu lesson

Fridays are used to participate in large social activities and/or field trips.
Our School Day
Our studies usually begin by 8:30 am
We take a break at 9:30 / 9:45 am for snack and outside time
10:15 / 10:30 resume studies
12:00 lunch
We are usually done our studies by 12:00 every day, with the exception of Mondays and Fridays, we finish a lot earlier (hence we have time for the practical life applications on Mondays and the field trips on Fridays).
So far our schedule is working really well. As mentioned previously, we allow for some flexibility but it’s nice to have some predictability as well.
Psst – Come visit my homeschooling blog, Deliberate Homeschooling for many more posts like these.
I LOVE how each day starts with bible studies!!! The academics will be blessed!
I wouldn’t expect anything less than a real deal schedule and organized curriculum from you. I’m impressed!
Sounds like you have got a good flow going for your family!
Awesome! I plan on homeschooling, but since my oldest is only two…it’s going to be a bit. It’s good to read about other peoples’ schedules, though – it looks like you have a great one!
Came across your blog and it is very inspiring, I hope mine is the same to you. I would love to have you to link up at my weekly Clever Chicks Blog Hop: http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2013/09/clever-chicks-blog-hop-54-with-two.html
I hope you can make it!

Oh my gosh. As I am rereading your schedule I am reminded, yet again, how very similar we are. Excuse while I go write another list. And rewrite it. And rewrite it, yet again. Ahem.
