Yesterday we had our first skiff of snow. I’m still in denial. Winter is around the corner and I’m totally not ready!
Here are the five main reasons why I’m not ready for winter:
I still haven’t finished my fall cleaning.
I take my fall cleaning seriously. It’s actually more important to me than spring cleaning. I think it’s a “hibernation” thing. Plus our dresser drawers and closets are still housing tank tops and shorts!
Where’s the winter gear?
The only winter coat hanging in the front closet is the one I bought last weekend! The rest of the coats (and our winter boots) are packed away in a bin somewhere. I don’t even know if the girls have winter boots that will fit!
I haven’t winter-proofed our home yet.
The patio furniture is still on the deck. My daughters’ bedroom windows haven’t been sealed with insulating plastic. My furnace hasn’t gotten a new filter. The timer on the thermostat hasn’t been set. My house isn’t ready.
Winter isn’t supposed to come until after Halloween.
I know there’s been some Halloween seasons where there was snow on the ground. However, my brain refuses to acknowledge winter prior to Halloween.
I haven’t made my list yet!
Winter is emotionally brutal for me. I don’t think it’s necessarily Seasonal Affective Disorder but I do know I get the winter blues every year. Last year I decided to make a list of all the things that would help me get through a long winter but then spring came and I forgot… until now.
Are you in denial that winter is on its way?
Ugh! Last week’s snow threw me for a loop, too. I am definitely not prepared. My mission for this week is to find my tote box full of long-sleeved shirts and purchase winter coats/boots for the entire family. Blessings for you on your mission to winterize! :)
I have a similar mission. Hopefully I can accomplish it. Even if I could get our outdoor gear ready would be a relief!
There are a lot of things for you to do in preparation for winter! I feel a little spoiled out here in so cal, where all we have to do is put on a jacket and turn up the heater. I think you better get that list taken care so you can enjoy the season, it looks like it’s gonna be a long one. <3!
Oh no! Winter!???!? Snow in October is just not ok!
Yikes! We haven’t had any snow yet thank goodness. I like a few snows, but not until later in the year! Hope this is just a fluke and your winter is still a while away.
:) I am from India and our winters are for about 4 months to max. (December and January being the coldest months) I am in the ‘plains’ so do not see snow but it freezes man.
I prefer winters as it is just a little better..don’t know why though.
Oh how I wish I didn’t have to prepare so much for winter! I have to stop denying that it’s coming and get to work!
I know right?! At least if it could hold off snowing until November!
I hope so too Tammy. Winter is just too long when it starts in October.
I wish my winter was only 4 months. It’s more like 5-6 months. So cold and long!
Ok, here is the one way that I think we’re opposite. We love, love the snow. But we’re snow people who ski and own a sled business so we pray for snow every day. I will say snow already is pretty darn early.
I hope you’re able to get all your fall cleaning done soon! We’re in the same boat; not enough hours in the day for me!
Have a wonderful week!
xoxo
Oh my goodness I am with you!! I am so not ready for that white stuff!
Just like you I’m not ready for winter as yet. We’ve had a few flurries but nothing big as yet. Besides that it’s just been cold. I plan on shopping this weekend for winter gear. Hopefully it’s a mild one this year.
Oh goodness. I don’t miss any of those things – the packing & unpacking of seasonal clothes, only to find that most of it had been outgrown, the winter blues, the warming up the car before being able to get in it. But, snowball fights, sledding ,and fireplaces I do miss.
