Welcome to the last day of my blog pause. This is a wonderful idea I gleaned from my dear friend Robin, over at Robin Kramer Writes.
The idea of this is I share a few posts. You can read all of them or choose one or two that appeal the most to you.
Also, if you have a moment, would you please complete this brief reader SURVEY? I would greatly appreciate it. You can access the survey HERE.
These posts are some of my favourites from 2014….
I Would Have Starved Without The Food Bank {inspiration}
I stood there shocked. It was the day after my roommates and I had a thrown a huge party. I had opened the cupboards and realized that we had literally been eaten out of house and home….
When I first moved out on my own there was a tremendous amount of adjustment time. I was young, foolish, and unfortunately in bad company. To make matters worse, I didn’t know how to budget, I had bills to pay, I had to finish my schooling, and couldn’t find a job better than a counter attendant/bakery assistant at a donut shop. I worked graveyard shifts for over a year at the wage of $6.10/hour and I did this while attending highschool. How I did it, I really don’t know. These were not the best times in my life.

7 Keys to Homeschooling Success {homeschooling}
We’ve nailed it.
This year I find myself quite pleased with the success we’ve had with homeschooling. This post is just the beginning of what I hope to share with you over the course of the school year.

What’s Your Story {inspiration}
“I noticed a disheveled looking man across the street, standing with his bicycle. He was holding something in his hands and he was yelling nonsensical stuff at nothing in particular. I did what I always do when confronted with situations like this… I kept on walking past, avoiding eye contact.
Just as I passed him it happened. I heard POP – POP POP – POP.
My heart started racing. I turned around and he continued to yell stuff as he pointed a gun in my direction. A few more pops….

Becoming The Deliberate Mom That I Want To Be {blogging, parenting}
Even though The Deliberate Mom is the title of my blog, it is not me 100% of the time. I don’t walk around hearing songbirds and seeing beauty in every little thing my children do. I don’t have all of our meals planned, our activities scheduled, and my cupboards in order.
I doubt my ability to homeschool, I question my approaches with guiding my children’s behaviour, and I reflect on everything I do (and question it).
I have moments of brilliance and moments of utter devastation….

I’m glad you enjoyed the blog pause Tiffany. It was fun to look back and reflect on the year (and it also gave me the time to get plans in motion for the new year).
Happy New Year my friend! So exciting!
xoxo
I’m really looking forward to picking your brain with this whole homeschooling thing. My daughter is only 15 months old, but I am already daydreaming and scheming about our upcoming school days… how old do you think it “just right” for homeschooling???

The beauty of homeschooling is you “feel out” the right age for your child. There’s definitely things you can do now that stimulate your little one. I have a few activities here on the blog (under the kid’s activities page) that you can start doing now. Like opening containers and a “treasure basket”.
As for “formal” homeschooling… the best way to learn is through stimulating play experiences. So I would hold off on teaching her to read for when she’s kindergarten aged (5ish). However, your New Year’s resolution of reading more to her is key to laying the foundation for learning and reading later on.
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Jennifer! Best wishes to you and your family for a wonderful 2015!
Happy New Year Cheryl! I can hardly believe it’s 2015.
Wishing you joy, health, and blessings in the year to come.
Happy New Year to you, Jennifer. My hope is to carry more of the “deliberate” into 2015. As you so aptly worded it, the goal is to be deliberate not in terms of perfection, but rather in terms of intention. Amen to that!
Thank you Robin. Yes, perfection is impossible but intention is key. Happy New Year Robin!
Wishing you much joy, good health, and blessings in the year to come.
Happy New Year Friend. Hope you Had a good break?
Thank you Ifeoma. Yes, I had a good break (it feels weird calling it that though, as it wasn’t a break at all). I was doing a lot of behind the scenes blog work… but it was nice to do something different for a while.
Happy New Year!
